Favorite Team and Strategy

Postby Trokodile » Wed Aug 21, 2019 9:01 am

For anyone who's played RA or a variation- What's your favorite company/team to use? I say team because some people, myself included, have yet to build a coherent company. Not sure if one of the loadouts (Thunderpod Gold) is fully game-legal, but in my experience, it's not very powerful. I am aware that I need two more SSRs, as well.
My favorite team consists of:
Super Conscript http://mobileframehangar.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8694 d6Ra d6Ra d6B d6Y d6Y d6W d6W d8Rr
Skuttler http://mobileframehangar.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8657 d6Rd d6Rd d6B d6B d6W d6W
Phaze Skirmisher http://mobileframehangar.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8705 d6Rd d6Rd d6Rh d6Rh d6B d6G d6W d6W
Thunderpod (LRA) http://mobileframehangar.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8665 d6Rd d6Rd d6Ra d6Ra d6B d6B d6W d6W
Beta Skull (Artasid-style White) http://mobileframehangar.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8678 d6Rd d6Rd d8Rd d6B d6B d6W d6W

Looking at this, I think I go a little d6B -heavy in my frame loadouts. My team is pretty slow-moving, but resilient. I tend to play the first round as a minor target, mostly moving with maybe one or two attacks, and let my two opponents distract each other. In the meantime, I sneak around the battlefield, finishing off weakened frames and capturing stations. My strategy favors the late game and about 3-6 rounds.

Anyways, looking forward to hearing about your companies and strategies!

Your Thunderpod frame needs to drop one System to be legal.

I've mostly been running "Soldiers All the Way Down" or "Soldier+" squads for the last couple years.

I've been experimenting with a few other squad compositions though.
(3x) Defender -- d6B d6B d8G d6Y d6W d6W + d8Rr
or
(?x) Charger -- d6Rh d6Rh d6Rd d6Rd d6B d6G d6W d6W + d8Rr
or
Delegator -- d6Ra d6Ra d6B d6Y d6Y d6W d6W + d8Rr / Heavy Assault -- d6Rd d6Rd d8Rd d6B d6G d6W d6W squad created by Starflower.

My favorite was when I didn't bring any ranged weapons at all and only two h2h. Not something I expect will work often, but boy was that ever fun.

The next one would have to be a couple soldiers and a heavy assault moving in formation, backed up by a pair of delegators. I've used that a few time to great effect as a secondary. MK has seen it play out.

A squad of swarmers is always a good time.

For position? Secondary. I find it fun to play my opponents off each other and react to what's happening rather than have a dedicated all-or-nothing strategy going in. But I've done that, too. It's also fun.

As for actual builds, my TEM squad of red Razor frames is consistently my favorite to put on the table, regardless of how I've configured them.
