The 6th Border Jaegers

Postby schoon » Wed Apr 11, 2012 1:08 am

Granted, I'm still at a bit of a handicap without knowing too much about the background thus far, but I'm insatiable when it comes to "fluff."

Thus, I created an insignia for my 6th Border Jaegers. Bonus points to anyone who can figure out the actual insignia that I used for motivation on this!

It should shrink down nicely to create a decal for my frames...

That's slick man! Where did you find/create it? I need to start looking into making insignias for my setting too.

"Tall ships and tall kings,
Three times three,
What brought they from the foundered land
Over the flowing sea?
Seven stars and seven stones,
And one white tree.

Looks nice!

Excellent guess, but not my inspiration. If no one gets it in a day or two, I'll post the "secret" here...

I was going to say it looks like the Gondor heraldry. Looks sweet though, whatever it's taken from

Thank you very much for being one of the first to post something up like this. Being an RPG gamer myself, I wouldn't be able to build a force without any sort of theme in mind. I know that feel, bro.
Good jerb on the logo, I like. Now to write a background story, describe 'Frames and flesh out their pilots, eh? :D

So, the original insignia was from WWII Finnish Commandos.

I'm starting another based on some Janissary unit standards from the Ottoman Empire.

I'll have to wait on an Ijad themed one till I get a better feel for their graphics.

Oh yeah. Those dudes got up to some stuff that, if someone put it in a book, would cause me to throw the book away, shaking my head. "No one is that cool," I would say. "No...human...could be that hard-core."

Except for this guy, who just was that cool and even got shot only to shrug it off. Did I mention he got shot in the head?

My wife is Finnish, so I'm quite familiar with The Winter War and The Continuation War.

Great pieces of history!

The 6th Border Jaegers were originally part of the 6th UMFL Border Legion, an assortment of regiments operating in the Arietis Arm, under the direction of the Union Custodian for the area, Matthias Stone.

The Jaegers, a semi-autonomous regiment based in the Lappi system, were a reaction force under Stone's personal control. Stone, who became known to history as the Bedlam Butcher gave the Jaegers increasingly distasteful orders and assignments over the course of nearly a decade, culminating in the Greenhouse Riots on Acanthus.

Working in concert with another Lappi regiment serving on Acanthus, the Jaegers bode their time, and then "vanished" after being ordered to open fire on rioters in the central city Spinos. Their frames were eventually discovered lining the road leading to the city's main gates like an honor guard, pistons spiked to ensure they could not be used.

Stone flew into a rage, but by the time that translated into rational action, they'd already made transit out of the system.

As Stone's actions have been considered suspect at best by the Solar Union, they have never taken definitive action against the rebellious Jaegers, though rumor has it that certain officials have worked in "unofficial" capacities against them.

Much reduced in size, as the entire regiment did not choose the same path, the 6th Border Jaegers now hire out their services without regard to politics. Even the Union now employs them with the same frequency as any other organization.
