The All in one Sub Forum Idea/Duiscussion thread

Postby OrangeKNight » Sat Mar 31, 2012 1:33 am

Cause eventually we'll have more of these kinds of threads and users! xD

First I want to thank Schoon for his work in getting this set up for us to call home(aside from flickr at least!) but there is always room for improvement so these are my thoughts on how we can improve on the organization of the sub forums, and additional ideas or suggestions are more than welcome to build upon this;

Code: Select all
Board Index
--Mobile Frame Zero War Room
----Mobile Frame Zero General Discussion (General discussions about the game or building materials)
----Mobile Frame Zero Rules Discussion (Discuss the rules of the game, tactics & strategy)
------User Created Rules (Discuss User Created Rules, either Brand new or Modification of the Core Rules)
----Mobile Frame Zero Universe (Discussion of the background, history & universe)
--Mobile Frame Zero Hangar
----Mobile Frame R&D (Discuss and show off your Frame designs)
----Vehicle R&D (Discuss and show off your Vehicle designs)
----Mobile Frame Zero Terrain (Discussion on objectives and table-top terrain)
--Embassy
----Welcome and Introductions (Introduce Yourself)
----Forum Help (Get Support for technical issues)
----Off-topic (For anything not Mobile Frame Zero Related)

Some sections might seem a bit superfluous, but in my experience it's better to have before it's needed, rather than waiting until after the fact you know? Something similar to this should serve for the immediate future, but I can see an eventual need for Sub Forums like;
Battle Reports (Boast about your Victories, and play down your losses)
Campaigns (Discuss Special rules for campaigns and share your own campaigns with others)

And more depending on where Joshua and Soren take the game, really the sky is the limit. So if you have any thoughts please speak up, we all have a stake in this after all ;p

That is an excellent idea. I'd change a few things though.

Board Index
--The War Room
----General Discussion (General discussions about the game or building materials)
-------Battle Reports (Boast about your Victories, and play down your losses)
----Rules Discussion (Discuss the rules of the game, tactics & strategy)
-------User Created Rules (Discuss User Created Rules, either Brand new or Modification of the Core Rules)
----Mobile Frame Zero Universe (Discussion of the background, history & universe)
-------Campaigns (Discuss Special rules for campaigns and share your own campaigns with others)
--The Hangar
----Mobile Frame R&D (Discuss and show off your Frame designs)
----Vehicle R&D (Discuss and show off your Vehicle designs)
----Stations & Terrain (Discussion on objectives and table-top terrain)
--The Embassy
----Welcome and Introductions (Introduce Yourself)
----Forum Help (Get Support for technical issues)
----Off-topic (For anything not Mobile Frame Zero Related)

How does that look?

Yeah, if we wanted to slot those in right away I'd be down with where you stuck them.

Also I just had a thought, the Frame R&D is great for posting designs and such, but maybe a Subforum for Posting the Actual Companies we play with? maybe doing things like keeping track of the w/l/d and such? it kinda crosses over with the 'current' Frame Forge and would slightly conflict with the new Battle Report, thought I see the Company Roster as more encompassing and more record keeping while Battle Reports would be for Singular battles or Campaigns. Maybe it could kinda go like this;

Company Rosters (Record your Company's Size, Load-out and Wins!)

And I think I had another idea........but I forgot....

Cool. What did you think of the name changes?

I think that we don't really need a forum for the teams we use. If it's Actual Play it falls under Battle Reports. If it's tactics and composition discussion it should be in the General Discussion forum.

Great ideas, Gents.

I'll put some in place now, but will hold some back till after the game release and we can see what's most appropriate.

Thanks Schoon, any chance you can do something about all the shadow links for the moved threads? They seem to already have caused some confusion! xD

Yeah I think leaving the shadow link behind causes confusion. Could cause people to still post in that forum instead of the appropriate subforum.
