This should be easer then it is….

The upload from your machine option… 6k max file size? Best I can get is a jpeg at 75x75 and its 9k. 6k seems a bit low to me.

Link off-site… I put an avatar on Flickr and have tried every option: Link (both normal and short), HTML and BBcode… all I get is "The URL you specified is invalid."

What gives? How do I get an Avatar associated with my accoutn?

The size and KB can be changed by an admin, so something for schoon to look at probably. I'll admit, 6 Kb is somewhat 1992... still, plenty of guys have avatars here so it can obviously be done. Try saving as a GIF file as they are only 256 colour and make a smaller filesize.

EDIT: Linking offsite - mine is 100x100 pixels but it's about 18 Kb and a PNG so it's only restricted by filesize for uploads it seems.

For offsite, of course. GIF is the only way to get an uploadable one at the moment. 6 Kb is just ridiculous. You have to save as a GIF in MS Paint to get one that low in filesize at 100x100, and then it just looks like poop.

Ditto. Although I'm surprised Flickr doesn't work. Might be because most of the time those sites give you a URL to a page with the image embedded instead of the direct image URL.

Saving as png does make for a smaller file size. I got one to work, just not the one I want. I'll play with it a bit more latter. Thanks for the help!
