Nice article. I also consider a plate 10 inchs or 0.25 for simplicity. Plus it makes a microfig 5'10" which is closer to the worldwide average height of a male.

However my understanding, and someone correct me if I am wrong, was that frames should fit inside 10x10x12 box, not a 10x10x12 volume. A frame that is 10 bricks tall would barely fit inside 10x10x12 box, since the the floor and ceiling of the box take up a brick each. Also I believe the 10x10x12 was a guideline for a competition, and not necessarily what Soren used as the basis for creating the first frames. I think the only guideline set by Josh was that frames are roughly 4-5 meters tall. My memory on all this is starting to get fuzzy, so don't take it as gospel and you might want to double check.

Here, I knew we all had a conversation with Josh about this a while back. Here is an interesting quote made my Josh and then my follow up

Joshua A.C. Newman wrote:I'd suggest, of course, that the Hi-Leg/Ghanat's volume be the max volume, the Chub be the middle, and the Conscript be the small.

DRevD wrote:To fit a chub snugly, you need a brick volume of 5x6x7, which translates into a 7x8x9 box.
A first eye (i think you meant that instead of a scrambler/ghanat?) standing on all 4 tippy toes needs a brick volume of 7x7x8...and its very snug in there. That translates into a 9x9x10 box which pretty decent. That fits a super chub with room to spare.

I went with six because it a whole number and we usually round up and a microfig is only 6 plates tall unless you count the nub.

You don't want to know the number of tabs I had open when writing this. In one of the forums Soren did mention this and the volume thing is how I understand it.

At minifigure scale we could possibly work moonbase-standard sets into a game somehow.
