Set Review: 6910-1 Mini Sports Car

This is a great little set for a great little price. Not a lot of 'wow, I must have that' pieces, but also not a lot of 'ennhhh, I'll never use that on a frame' pieces either.

Almost half the set -- 33 pieces -- are various 1x1 tiles. 18 of them are Slope 30 1 x 1 x 2/3 (54200) which is a useful piece.

The original "box" is quite nice; I can definitely see re-using it. Should make a great dice cup, too.


Some builds:



The Sporty. My first frame! It has some problems but overall I wouldn't feel bad about fielding him. The hip joints are two 4081b fit onto a 4600.




Woo throwing the horns.




Going for a stroll. Balance is a bit of a problem, but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting.




The Sporty is a bit big, so I tried to make something smaller with the Mini-Sporty here. Not too many pieces in it.




A station -- an anti-dropship weapon. Pretty happy with this. Could probably slap some wheels on it.


Overall, I give this set a thumbs-up.

Not counting shipping, on average isn't it typically cheaper to just buy the specific parts you want on Bricklink or something? I ask this because I rarely use a set as intended, and with the general increase in the price of Lego sets over the years, it's not as appealing to buy something that I'm only going to use 10% of for parts.

At the same time, it could be an interesting design challenge to make a frame using only parts found in a specific set.

Thanks for this, I picked one up yesterday along with the Star Wars Brickmaster book, and it is a neat little set with lots of cool parts. (And yeah, I wanted it NOW LOL! which is why I did not order a bunch from Bricklink!)
