F-T System Combined Fleet

Postby Atavism » Sat Jan 02, 2016 9:46 pm

So I made some more stuff, and I didn't want to make a new thread entirely. Updated and expanded from the Support Carrier thread.

Assault Carrier:

Thinking something like for shield generators, a point defense system, and a catapult.

Dreadnought:

Double artillery, armor, and a catapult for this one.

Support Carrier:
Joe Simmons posted the "Benevolent Tortoise" on the facebook group, which featured the crate pieces pretty prominently. I thought they'd make good hangar bays. I need to do some scrounging to find more, I think they'd look good with or without the retro (or is it modern?) carrier lanes.

Two catapults and spot system, maybe needs something else for play.

Ace:

This is a teeny version of my space interceptor frame from so long ago.

Those are some of the juiciest catapults around!

What color? Understated, minimalist, that's the ticket! Glad you like the build tho!

Ok, I have to ask: How are the crates attached to the ship? I can think of a couple options on the "right/central" one but the slope behind the "left" doesn't appear to allow any sort of connection.

Looks like they're both connected by 1x2-2x2 brackets to me.

That's the impression I get from looking at the model - which is a nice looking craft.

On closer inspection, I think you may be right, mraichelson. With all the bley on bley, I mistook them for just for being the bottoms of the crates; very clever.

I loved the original carrier on Facebook, and the assault one and the station are great.

The dreadnought, however...
I need new pants.

*EDIT* I just noticed the subtle Octan on the station, nice touch.

Is that... an Octan fuel station? :D

Thanks Reese!

No... It's an Orbital Container of Terran ... A... N-thing... Yeah it is Octan. I originally played around with some hazardous color patterns, but Octan just seemed the way to go.

I love the point defense system - such a simple construct but I could tell what it was immediately.

The ships are nice too.

Thanks! It took a lot of tries to get the PD system right. I almost settled on using one of those minifig Ray Guns as the base which actually looked very nice but was still too big to sit right on a ship at this scale.

I love the design of your ships! The Dreadnought is for sure my favorite! How about a group shot?

These are all fantastic, but I'm compelled to specifically mention the subtle Octan call-back on the refueling station. It's really cool to see LEGO tropes influencing the MFZ fiction.
