CPTPromotable, reporting for Duty as ordered, Sir!

Postby CPTPromotable » Sat Apr 21, 2012 12:12 am

Hey all, I'm Oryan, AKA CPTPromotable or 1LT(P)Obvious on these, our internets.

I just found out about this yesterday through another forum(dp9, i love big stompy fightan' robots) and have absorbed so much awesome in the last two days i feel i must let it out lest it explode in a LEGO-bricky cascade, much to the horror of my wife and daughter.

I work in the oilfield here in west Texas(specifically, on drilling rigs) and have been active in many tabletop wargames and boardgames since i was 12(so half my life now), including currently playing Uncharted Seas and Dystopian Wars and getting into Heavy Gear: Blitz! soon.

I think this endeavor is awesome because I have many friends, who, while enthusiastic about gaming with me, never have the disposable income to invest in pewter/resin/whatever models. This is where MFZ enters and kicks butt. I can buy up all the miniblocks i'll ever need and give them to my friends to build as they wish and not feel my wallet punching me every time i take a step. Plus, i love the look of all of the mecha, from the Chubs(who will be my main) to the Hi-legs(my first Opfor) and scramblers, to all the myriad original designs(particularly mitten_ninjas roadrunner and other fairly original Hunchback and so on, and vincent/lumpley[i think] floating imperial bots from a photobucket album somewhere on the forum).

Now that the thought vomit has ceased, I'll just say this: Holy cow I'm glad to be here! If only I had found this right when the kickstarter began and I had the opportunity to get one of the bigger packages.

Captain Promotable. Lieutenant Obvious. :D

You make me laugh. I like you. You can stay here.

You remind me of the golden times (fake gold. It was kinda painted on over the sheet metal) of WarRock, where a couple friends of mine and I had a forum, with important categories as such:
General Forums, Private Problems, Major Malfunction, Corporal Payne, Captain Obvious, Admiral Insurance, Seaman Sticky ...

Ha, le sigh.

Good to see you, Corporal. We need all the help we can get here, so you'll be put to work right away. Judging by your service record, that's not a problem for you.

Texas, eh? Something about Texas breeds wargamers. And excellent steak. As welcome as the latter would be, the former is going to be much more useful on these forums.

Looking forward to seeing your designs and whatever else you come up with!

I probably won't be delving too much into building for another month yet when we move and i get down the tub of Legos in storage, but until then i'll drink in the storyline and toss out a story or two myself(i have one brewing) while oggling everyone else's minis and saving pics i like for when i do put my stuff together!

Welcome to the community! I too am a heavy gear nut, but more from the computer game side of things than the minis wargame side. I really just dig the universe they've created there.
