Hello from Indianapolis

Postby majincob » Wed May 09, 2012 12:45 am

Hey all! I used to love playing with LEGO's when I was a kid, and I stumbled upon MF0 in the kickstarter and loved the mini mech designs. I enjoy CCG's and RPG's, but have until now resisted making a significant foray into tactical miniatures because I don't want to buy all those expensive mini's when I'd only use them once/twice a year. However, if I get to build them from scratch with everyones favorite brick system then they hold intrinsic value beyond the game itself.

I'm looking forward to GenCon in Indy this year as I just got a big house a couple of miles from the convention center and have the whole week blocked out for gaming.

I think this is the game's greatest asset over other tabletop wargames out there. It's got a level of accessibility that others don't. And the ability to decide you don't like your SU army so you're going to pull it all apart and make an Ijad or custom army is a great thing, as you don't necessarily have to rebuy every model to make the army up. It's a great thing.

Also, welcome :)

I never got into war games for the same reason. Too much money for something that is set in stone... er, pewter. ;)

Oh, I love painting minis! I buy minis just to paint them. But normally they are pathfinder minis, and thus a little cheaper.

Man, painting. I got hands like a neurosurgeon...who's naked in Antarctica...during an Earthquake. Hutch painting when your meaty manipulators don't behave properly.

But regardless of that, welcome! I totally agree with you about what makes MFZ so awesome. Build! Stuff! Yes!

After concepting, building and painting a few minis myself, I agree and disagree at the same time.

Painting is meticulous, time-consuming, but rewarding. You get awesome results. I'll try and find some of my more current works during the day.

True. Very true. Well, I didn't get awesome results. I apparently am not that good at painting minis.

Exactly.

That might be possible if you don't mind sleeping on the floor in a house built in 1900. (by which I mean there is no central air conditioning - not in the budget to upgrade this year).
