Hello from the Pacific Ocean

Postby Tetrajak » Sun Apr 22, 2012 9:44 pm

I've been lurking on these forums, hungrily devouring the rules previews (I imagine I'm not the only one). I figured I'd finally join, so I could both contribute (if it were appropriate), and ask any questions I had. This place seems to be the most bustling site when it comes to MFZ discussion, after all.

I got here through a friend, who posted the link to the Kickstarter on Facebook. It seemed too good to be true; LEGO meets strategy games + mecha; 3 of my favourite things combined. Having contributed to the Kickstarter, and looking forward to the rulebook, I set about recreating the frames of others, and then applying what I learned from them into making my own. I have admittedly sold my soul to Zizy in this regard, and eagerly await a bricklink order with enough parts to create 8 small frames heavily influenced by his designs.

In case anyone is gathering statistics on where people have heard about MFZ, I'm based all the way down in the Pacific Ocean; specifically New Zealand. With any luck, I will be able to convert other wargamers and perhaps LEGO enthusiasts to MFZ, and finally have someone else to fight with tiny LEGO mecha.

You can find my flickr account over here; http://www.flickr.com/photos/tetrajak/

I am also Tetrajak all over the net, in case anyone knows me from anywhere else.

Heh, 'nother welcome, mate. :D

I wasn't sure whether he was a spambot (because his name pattern simply matched the spammers randomized algorythm), so I messaged him, But he said, he totes is a human. If he ever posts about the lottery, guys, report him. ;)

PS: Welcome aboard, have fun and chime in away.

Well, that's gonna cause confusion. D'ya mind if we call ya Bruce, just to help keep things straight?

Bruce is designated for Aussies, sorry. He's a Kiwi, so you can call him "bro", or "Jango Fett" ;)

I will call him Tetris Jack, because that is what his name sounds to me.

Oh, no! I called a Kiwi and Aussie! Well, to make up for it, you can call me a Limey.

Regardless, we all are human, and all humans are welcome here. Hear that, alien brain slugs? Stay out of our nasal cavities!

I think I'll stick to answering to Tetrajak, in order to avoid confusion.

Well, some of us plan on playing Ijad, so I'm not sure that just because we're human means that we have the best interests of the species at heart.

Howdy from the Lone Star State!

I too have a fondness for Zizy's creations.

I love New Zealand. I visited for two weeks back in '01, and would love to make it back some time. Would love to visit Rotorua again.

Heck, I ain't got nothing against the Ijad. And I think you could argue that the Ijad really feel they have the best interests of the individuals they bond to at heart--or at ganglia, or something.

Holy crap. WHERE in New Zealand? I'm in Auckland myself and I have at least one war-gaming buddy I'm trying to convert to MFZ. Kinda hard without rules yet alas!

Wow, there is more than one of us! I'm in Wellington, sadly still a decent distance away for a wargame.

Can't you ride your bike around the coast of New Zealand? That's what one of my former coworkers did. Given, he was gone for a while ....

Wellington? Nuts. Nice city though. I grew up in the Lower Hutt. Yeah nice to see another NZer on here.

You can do the exact same around the coast of the Americas, or any land mass for that matter. Around all of NZ's islands, it'd still take days, if not weeks.

Well, If you ever have cause to come down to Wellington again, I'm in Lower Hutt (up on the western hills). Also, I travel to Auckland about once or twice a year for conventions. I could always extend my stay by a day and we could test out the MFZ rules (when they're released) during that time. Although, admittedly, once a year is hardly ever.

Almost made it to NZ earlier this year. Plans fell through at the last minute so we ended up not going. Instead we are heading to Hawaii next week!

Welcome from California!
