Urban Outfitters Series Weaponry

Image

Background:

With the market for high-cost customers saturated, VAL realized and answered to the need for mid to low-end weaponry that could be rapidly produced and distrubed. From an economical standpoint, VAL was ordered by VMW to design a suite of simple weapons that they could produce at "Just-In-Time" rates, to meet fluctuating order numbers from their customers. The accompanying message was, due to a missuse of mail groups, sent to every employee at VMW and subsidiaries, which resulted in the coining of the word "Snobfac", as an acronym for the most infamous seven words of of the entire message: "Sanctions? Not our business. Fast and cheap!"

Tasked with a low budget and a high priority for fast production rates; armed with the greenlight from above to ignore SPAL*, VAL quickly dove into the swamp of alternative propellants, chemicals and even small-scale nuclear applications. VAL eventually found the spark to jumpstart a line of affordable, easy-to-manufacture weapony options in plutonium-enriched tungsten, which was combined with a charge that would create a micro-scale atomic reaction. Put together with a round that was optimized for impact energy rather than stable flight, VAL now had the MJI*² ammunition, which provided a greater force of impact at cheap production costs - at the cost of reliability and accuracy. Comparative cross-brand results were lower, but within tolerance, though.

Another design aspect was, that the series should be optimized for urban environments - short distances to supply depots, tight corners, compact size, durability (because of falling debris) and interchangeability between 'Frames - for drop-and-pick-up scenarios, where a given 'Frame would wield the most effective weapon, be disabled and another 'Frame discards his weapon to pick up the inactive system. This was further to reduce Total Cost of Ownership, so a given lance could be equipped with a diverse loadout and remain fighting-effective even if one given specialist would be disabled.

* Standing Protocol And Law; The current SU protocol and laws in terms of weaponry available for non-military clients, applicable to any given SU-law abiding company with an SU license to trade.
*² Macro Joule Impact

Compability:
Urban Outfitters-Series weaponry is concepted with the best compability possible concerning the upper 70% of the market. Due to extensive research and testing, VAL succeded in designing a weapon series that can be used by any MIL0239*³-Standard 'Frame of the known colonized space. Showcasing their armament line with a broad cast of 'Frames, VAL has truly exceeded the expectations of VMW, offering a weapon system that is not just affordable, but also easy to service, trade between 'Frames with little to no calibration and can deliver these weapons within short time, should a sudden need arise.

*³ 'Frames between 15ft and 20ft of height or comparable dimensions, with two available actuated manipulators by primary variant.

Components Imagery (single & mounted):

• Framized™ CSG - Combat Shotgun d6Rd d6Rh
Image Image
Pictured mounted on VMI-01 Howell

Converting MJI ammunition into pellets, this shotgun is a clip-fed pumploader, eschewing an autoloader system to save on cost and complexity. Firing one or both barrels at a time, the VAL-02 CSG provides a firing solution for all CQB environments.

• Framized™ SMG - Submachine Gun d6Rd d6Rd
Image Image
Pictured mounted on ST07w Chub

The combination of 40mm MJI rounds and a fast cycle turns the VAL-02 SMG into a burst weapon with great damage potential at the cost of the ability to effectice suppress a target.

• Framized™ AR - Assault Rifle d6Rd d6Rd
Image Image
Pictured mounted on VMW-03 Gādian

With an augmented caliber of 47mm MJI rounds, the VAL-02 AR gives added stability and accuracy at a lower rate of fire mitigated by the more powerful round.

• Framized™ ARb - Assault Rifle (Bullpup) d6Rd d6Rd
Image Image
Pictured mounted on ST07f Chub

Using the same 47mm round as the AR, the VAL-02 ARb brings the firepower of the 47mm ammunition together with the agility of the SMG.

• Framized™ HMG- Heavy Machine Gun d6Rd d6Rd d8Rd
Image Image
Pictured mounted on VMi-04 Powell

An even larger round, the 54mm MJI ammunition of the HMG is built to evaporate cover, punch through thick armor at a high rate of fire.

• Framized™ PR - Precision Rifle d6Ra d6Rd
Image Image
Pictured mounted on VMI-05 Lowell

Carrying the 54mm MJI round from the HMG to a platform with a longer barrel, a more stable platform and a semiautomatic loading mechanism, the VAL-02 PR offers long-range firepower at marksman level.

• MGL - Machine Grenade Launcher d6Ra d6Rd
Image Image
Pictured mounted on SVM-01 Serviceman

Available with various payloads and some finned long-range rounds, the VAL-02 MGL is a simple, revolver-loaded launcher that brings down medium range firepower.

• OPC - Oscilating Plasma Cleaver & ISB - Impact Shock Batton d6Rh d6Rh (each)
Image Image Image
L: Cleaver; M: Batton
Pictured mounted on VMW-02 Bullfrog

Using both constant-beam and impact-discharge plasma ejectors, the VAL-02 Cleaver and the VAL-02 Batton are vicious melee weapons that are anything but refined. They simply cut or burst things apart.

Very nice! I especially like the bullpup assault rifle and the cleaver.

I also like the sort of gonzo tone of the backstory.

I like the CSG, SMG, and ARb. Although I'm wondering what the binoculars on the ARb are supposed to represent. I really like the use of the cup as a handle on the HMG.

I couldn't find a feasible solution for a grip on the ARb, so I built a hand. The binoculars are practically shaped fingers.

Okay. I'm going to build a copy so I'll see what I can do.

I like that the ARb attaches to the wrist like a hardpoint weapon.
