Books with a MFZ feel

Recently read the first two books of The Expanse, and the first book in the new John Scalzi series The Collapsing Empire. Both series offer a great take on space based economics, logistics, fighting for/controlling natural resources, and the realities of extra planetary politics. The second series even has a MFZ like setting of far flung colonies connected by naturally forming jumpgate like phenomenon. I highly recommend both series to anyone looking for ideas that could easily be adapted to the MFZ setting, stories set in a MFZ like world, or just good space dramas.

As a bonus, The Expanse is also a show on ScyFy that while i haven't watched yet, I hear really good things about!

Hal Clement's works, "Half Life" and "The Nitrogen Fix," are worth a look.
