I think the penguin is a pretty lame model, but that's a great collection of parts. I might go just to get a metric crap-ton of the 1x2s with two handles (and load up on black jumpers, orange teeth, etc. in the process).

In addition to all the good parts in the current PaM, my local Lego store has a bunch of leftovers from previous PaM's still on the wall along with some other MFZ-useful parts (they replaced the loose ball cup plate with the mixel one! woot!). I'm not sure I've ever seen a better wall for building micro mecha. A Single Cup Challenge would feel like cheating.

And for stations (or if you're a member of the cult of bases) there are these.

Stopped into my local Lego Store today and found the new PaM on the wall. Didn't have time to grab a cup, but I'll be back in a few days.

Overall the model doesn't look very finished, but for kids it has good play features for 56pcs.

MORE MIXEL JOINTS! All three of these are on the wall in either Fav's or PaM bins.

The rest of the parts list is less that inspirational although it does have new headlights, brakcets, jumper plates, baby bows, cheese, and grill plates. I really wish there was an open ended bar plate to use with those new headlights; that connection worked really well with my Laborer frames from last January.

the selection looks good. I find it strange, that there is no cup-plate only the ball and ball-and-cup pieces.
the first idea that sprang to mind was a quad with Mixel legs, balancing on the balls of the ball-and-cup pieces.

My local Lego store is delayed on getting the Q2 2017 PaM on their wall, but it's been seen in other stores.

Not a very inspiring parts list...

It is a sad looking penguin.

That said, the build has given me some frame ideas I'll have to try

They claim it's a puffin which is better than it trying to be a penguin, but not by much.

Puffins are sad because they are not majestic penguins.

I've been "off Lego" for a while so haven't been keeping up with things. Has anyone seen a PaB Model for Q3 or Q4 2017? Curious what they were/are.

Curiosity got the better of me and I popped into my local Lego store. A sales assistant confirmed that Pick-A-Model has been discontinued. It seems the Puffin was the last wide-spread model (maybe the Beaver... details were thin). There were a couple of other store-specific models, but those were very limited in their release. Brickset has the most complete list, but it's got some holes too. The sales assistant said TLG was working on some feedback mechanism for AFOLs, but had no details.

That said, there were quite a few good parts on the wall: headlight, new headlight, travis, 2x2 bows (in sand green!), L brackets, 3 different clip plates (really surprised to see so many), a bar plate, several colors of 1x1 round plate, 3 jumper plates, 2 cheese...

Looks like this thread has come to and end. Makes me a little sad.

Excuse the necropost, but it seemed the best place to drop this. I found myself at my local mall yesterday (it's gotta be a year since I was last there...) and as there's a Lego store, I had to pop in. The PaB wall wasn't as sad as I expected; except for no handle/bar or bracket parts, the rest of the selection was pretty good. Not sure what your local Lego store has, but you might want to take a look (sorry for those without a local...).

The main group of parts (left) are confirmed. The small group (right) are from the misc bin so there might be more treasure in there. No Pick-a-Model, but there were a couple little monster builds (only got a pic of one); they're pretty meh.

I left without getting anything (although my wife spent a LONG time looking at the Lunar Lander). Looking at this parts list again, I might go back and fill a cup; there are some good parts. Not quite sure it's solid enough of a parts list for a PaB cup challenge, but who knows...

It appears the answer is yes, there are enough parts...
