Vesopia Airborne Solutions: VAS-01 Vulture

VAS-01 Vulture

Image

Background:

With 'Frames hauling the majority of surface-bound warfare, it may have seemed as an odd decision by VMW to create the Vesopia Airborne Solutions department. But, as time has shown, a demand for conventional combat aircraft was still around, for the ease of transfer across rough terrain and the unique mobility planes offer. The VAS-01 is one of the first models mass-produced by VAS with these thoughts in mind.

Preinstalled Systems:
The Vulture carries two light gauss rifles under it's wings, for long range applications. Staying away from the fight, the support plane offers a reliable firing solution that can stay in the air due to it's extensive ECM suite. The highpowered twin engines make sure that the Vulture can maintain affective fighting distance.

This.

This is pretty awesome.

Though it does beg to question how this thing benefits from cover. O:

I'm sure it has some sort of hover function built into the engines.

I'll see whether the LDR export function works. If not, we might need a translator. ;)

Well, I just send an email off to Lego Tech support, so hopefully they can help me rather than need to call a translator XD

If they didn't, they do now.

Ced23Ric, this thing is all kinds of awesome. I was so inspired I had to sit down and build one. Here's my Mistarille Dawn take on your wonderful aircraft:

Some notes:
-As you can see I modified a few parts. This is partly because the design put forth in the LDD was very flimsy in some connections (for me), and partly because I don't have every part shown (Gah!). I bulked it up a bit, and gave it a couple more solid connections to the wings, then added my own engines (since I don't have the cool ones you used) and my own guns (the ones in the LDD kept falling off on me....darn old bricks of mine). As an additional feature, the Rail Lasers rotate fully around to act as landing gear.

Also, these photos are on my flickr photostream, but I'm not posting it to any group without your permission because I assume you haven't bricked this out yourself yet.

My jaw literally dropped at this thing in the brick. That is possibly the sexiest Lego vehicle I've ever seen.

Go right ahead, just shoot me a reference and it's all good. I really have no overdeveloped sense of ego that'd throw a stick into that process. Quite the opposite, I am glad you like and and bricked it! :)

That's awesome to hear. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't stepping on any toes, first (I figured it was alright since you did post an LDD file of it, but I always get in trouble when I assume -anything-.)

Also, were you inspired by Wiseman_lego's attack chopper when making the Vulture? They have similar elements, except yours is like a sci-fied out scrambler jet version of it.

Yupp. I took the front of the cockpit section from there. The rest is scratchbuilt.

First, great work on this Ced23Ric!

I'm going to see if I can upscale this a bit and add some VTOL fans to it over the weekend. Very motivating!

Very nice, LowestFormOfWit. I always prefer to see things built out than screenshots of LDD/LDraw models and your improvements definitely give the model an amazing shape. Good job!
