Milli Public Transport Frame

The Milli is a single pilot frame that serves the role of public transit in cities or colony collectives. The door opens as two halves, one going up and the other down to act as a ramp. The milli'd small but powerful legs with grabberish feet allow it to operate in diverse environments.

I don't have a lot of time to spend on this at the moment but I loved the idea. Here's my rapidly-assembled entry. Sorry for the lousy photo, I may swap in some better ones.

NCF-13L

Though spread out amongst the stars, a small subset of humans still love to strap wooden planks to their feet and fall down mountains. They call it skiing. In less civilized days, such people generally shared a common complaint: The point was to go down the mountain and going up is much less fun. Once upon a time, "Ski lifts" were immobile, expensive, and inaccessible to most folks. There were a handful of preset skiing locations and if you didn't want to go to one of those, you were largely out of luck.

Fortunately, today we know that mobile frames make the best ski lifts. While very few individuals have the means or necessity to own their own ski lift, resorts tend to keep a few running at all times and are always happy to rent them out. In fact, some skiers prefer to pilot the frame over the actual activity itself. Many sportsmen search for particularly challenging ascents and consider it as much a part of the activity as the return trip. It's not unusual for one such pilot to, in turn, rent out their services to other guests.

Image
(click for larger version)

The model seen here is an NCF-13L. It's a typical rental unit. The red one on the left has just dropped off its passengers while the green one on the right is beginning its descent and return back to the base station.

On the field, the NCF-13L can be represented by:
d6W d6W (because it's a frame)
d6G (assuming appropriate environs, the skis)
d6B (the passengers can take a hit or two before the frame starts taking damage)
d8G (for not having any ranged weapons).

LDD (including the original idea, which I never built) is available.

Disqualify it if you like as preexisting or whatever, but I feel like this frame has a place in the thread:

FLUFF

Announcer: Excuse me Sir. Have you hired a moving company to relocate your belongings when you were moving to a new location?
Man: Yes
Announcer: Did that company do a satisfactory job?
Man: Not really.
Announcer: Please Sir, tell us what happened?
Man: Well, they delivered my stuff to the wrong address. I had to pay them double to get it all returned to where they should have delivered it.
Announcer: I'm so sorry to hear that. Did your belongs arrive in a timely manner?
Man: No, plus it was a total mess. I was really upset with them. A lot of my things were broken when they finally arrived.
Announcer: Perhaps you should have hired a T.U.R.T.L.E.

ImageT.U.R.T.L.E.

Man: A what?
Announcer: A T.U.R.T.L.E. A Trusty Utility Relocating Transportation Land Escort. Their personnel take the time to ensure that your belongs reach your destination completely undamaged and intact.
Man: But aren't turtle's slow?
Announcer: They prefer the term 'diligent'. Most moving companies are in a hurry to get the job done, which tends to lead to miscommunication between the drivers and the dispatcher giving the orders. T.U.R.T.L.E. drivers are fully trained and prepared to make sure they receive all the correct information about where your deliveries need to go.
Man: Wow, that's impressive, but how do I know that they'll take care of my stuff?
Announcer: Each T.U.R.T.L.E. frame is equipped with a Cargo Cage that ensures the safety of the precious cargo each one is entrusted with.

ImageT.U.R.T.L.E. Cargo cage open

Announcer: Plus, T.U.R.T.L.E. offers a full satisfaction guarantee that should any damage occur to your items while in transport, T.U.R.T.L.E. will refund your entire delivery cost, PLUS the amount needed to replace any and all items that were damaged.
Man: That is a good deal. I know who I'm hiring next time I move.

Power Cylinders (A Pisher-Frice Brand) would like to introduce it's first frame for juniors...STUMPY     :o :o :o :o :o :D :D :D :D

Stumpy is a simple and straight forward micro mobile frame made for your kids to adventure around the yard! Loaded with features like time window operations, speed inhibitor settings, operational timer and much much more!!!

(Power Cyclinders is one company's attempt to make some profits from smaller muscle cylinders that do not past industrial/military tests limits but are perfectly still fine to operate.)

The Rhino: The rhino is literally designed to have a building land on it and still function with little to no harm to the pilot. Due to this frame's unique design (and need of a crazy pilot) few rhino's are in operation in a region but can handle demolition operations, clearing roads and other blunt force operations. The rhino's incredible toughness comes from it's panels being reinforced by responsive muscle cylinders with the most powerful behind the ram or "horn". With the TOMB system ready to keep pilots safe pilots should not fear in case the powerful rhino is buried and cannot escape. The TOMB will keep pilots safe and alive until rescue can reach them.

We have never received a report of a casualty while piloting a rhino. The rhino is a construction class frame and has not been sold to any known military or military like group or have we ever received a confirmed sighting of a rhino in a conflict scenario.

Res-Que: d6Rh d6Rh d8Rh Multi tool arms, d6B Tool Box, d6Y Diagnostics Scanner, d8G No Ranged Weaponry

FLUFF

Dispatcher: Res-Que unit 26, what's your situation?

Unit 26: Got a Convalier Frame unit down in the southern part of town. Diagnostics indicate an internal engine failure. I am currently in the process of removing the units left arm to gain better access to the source of the problem.

ImageRes-Que ing a Convalier

Dispatcher: Estimate time of repairs?

Unit 26: Why Dispatch? Are you missing me that much?

Dispatcher: Not on your life Hot-Shot, we just received a trans from the local authorities. There's a frame collision 5 miles west of your location. They say they need a lifter.

Unit 26: There are no other units closer?

Dispatcher: Nope. You're it. I'll reroute Unit 10 to take over repairs to the Convalier.

Unit 26: Can't 10 respond to the collision?

Dispatcher: Sorry 26, but 10 isn't fitted with a Lifter Crane.

Unit 26: (Sigh) Copy that Dispatch. I'll head out there. But you get to break the bad news to this Convalier pilot first!

END

Res-Que is a multi roll frame meant for rescues, repairs, refits and refuels. Some frames are unable to return to a hanger or repair bay, due to malfunctions, accidents, or they just plain run out of gas. Res-Que's are fitted with multiple tools meant to handle numerous situations, and are even equipped with a tool box to have the correct tools readily available. Their squat, wide legs provide adequate structural support when taking on tough jobs that may leave lesser frames struggling for balance. Safety is the Res-Ques primary concern.

The T.A.R.D.Y. -grade safari home!

Postby Starflower » Sat Dec 10, 2016 8:02 am

Image

For the leisurely safari enthusiast, the T.A.R.D.Y. -grade mobile home package provided by Zeno Interstellar Travel Agency is a perfect option.

The frame is fully amphibious and shielded against all naturally occurring hazards elements on ZITA's resort planets. The windows double as screens for the cameras and entertainment systems.

There are many optional features available. The anti-gravity drive and the advanced photography and wildlife tracking suite are some of the favorites.

I kind of cheated, because I made this using three Mixel sets, which is just too easy. ;)
And it's missing one of the tinier feet, so I kind of cheated a second time!

As a game piece, I think it would have
d6W d6B (Nothing is military grade, so I would forgo the second white die - but maybe replace it with "can move in water" -system.)
Anti-grav and wildlife tracking would upgrade it to d6W d6B d6Y d6G

Boxer Model TND "Tinderbox"
The inexpensive Tinderbox is equipped for firefighting purposes. It achieved fame and popularity when a fire brigade of a small colony used it to repell raiders, whose cobbled togehter frames short circuited and broke down after they got hosed down.

d8G
d6W d6W

The MSF-11 Snow Otter
The Snow Otter features the AWDDR system (All Weather Dual Doppler Radar - or just "Otter"). This is a unique frame in that it was purely designed as a sort of mobile weather station. The system allows the pilot to detect the faintest of changes in the weather up to 100 NM and predict the weather forecast with unmatched accuracy. When working in the polar caps on Ymara, the AWDDR is of most importance because the ability to predict incoming foul weather could be the difference between life and death. This is especially true if the TMs are still working on the side of an ice berg with an iminent storm heading their way. The pilot himself is a meteorologist. An secondary and unintentional ability of the Snow Otter is the ability to detect movement on the ground as well.

ImageCondor VTOL in action by SAMS Technological and Industrial Solutions Inc, on Flickr

When the Brotherhood of Lumberjacks were pushing further and further up the Tobagahn River, getting materials back to base was becoming an increasingly daunting and dangerous task. IBL Industries' answer to this is their very own Condor VTOL. This handy frame is most notable for its sophisticated combination of fixed / autogyro wings and lower body legs based on avian raptors. This allows the frame to literally swoop in from the air, extract materials and continue flight back to base, saving time and the need to hoover over said materials. Combat was not initially considered as part of the design. However, the need to be able to defend itself against dangerous creatures and other would-be thieving frames has forced the developers to equip the Condor with two (2) Sidewinder Missiles. The "raptor" claws, though not recommended, can also be used to fight in close range.

d6Rh d6Rh - Raptor Claws
d6Y d6Y - Standard Aviation Radar and Comm Gear
d6G d8G - Wings and Props

Anlou Neural Technologies drone

Postby Starflower » Sat Dec 17, 2016 8:32 am

ImageConstruction drone by Mika Metsätähti, on Flickr

Although both powerful and sophisticated, these Anlau Neural Technologies drones are priced for more than just their work capacity. Their true worth lies in their advanced hivemind, which lets dozens (or even hundreds) of these insect-driven frames lay groundwork for whole colonies in seamless concert.

Remote-controlled or auto-piloted A.N.T. drones manage a mere fraction of the efficiency of a frame piloted by the company's own, specifically gen-engineered Formicae.

The rear is a detachable container, and can be filled with various chemical compound depending on the type of work the drone is doing.

d6W d6W
d6Y for communication sensors
d6Rh d6Rh if container is filled with nasty acids (that route to the mandibles)

Why buy expensive, special purpose, limited use frames when you already have plenty Commissars and other basic style of frames when all you need is the right tools and support frame at a fraction of the cost?

Shell Shed Frames provide the perfect mobile storage for your tools while offering several upgrades and even tool packages to get your Shell Shed Frame ready to go! Shell Shed Frames come in a few different sizes, can have extra power output, flood lights and much more.

All Shell Shed tools come with Smart Grip technology giving you stress limits and other important info, even live data feedback if your frames have the correct upgrades! (Shell Shed even preforms Smart Grip upgrades to YOUR frames)

Featured Below is the Basic Shell Shed Frame and the Basic Tool Package.

R-Katy vendor buggy

Postby Starflower » Tue Dec 20, 2016 7:08 am

ImageR-Katy vendor buggy by Mika Metsätähti, on Flickr

One more creation for the non-combat frame challenge.

On large yet less prosperous planets with several, distant farming or mining communities it isn't unusual for travelling circuses to appear. Whole caravans of mismatched, scratch-built, brightly colored frames like this vendor buggy roam from village to village, and they are always welcomed with cheers and warm meals. The different kinds of games, shows, and other novelties attract customers for a time, and then the caravan moves on.

...Not much of a game piece, unless you hide an artillery cannon inside - but it could be a really nice station.
"Company! We need that entertainment unit! I still haven't seen the latest holo-film!"

As a game piece, d6W d6W (...I don't even really think it would merit for the sprint die.)
You could mount some artillery in it, though - and standing up, it kind of rests on a 4x4 base, so it could be a cool station! ;)
