The only concern I had with his design was that the 2x1 clip plates only had a 1 stud connection to the travis. I replicated his quad and I just had a problem with the stability of the connection (whether is was either me, or some defect in the pieces, I don't know.) After a bit of tinkering, I made a slightly more sturdy base, and ended up combining it with the torso design from my earlier random, the Andir.

The 4 clip plates's all connected via 1 stud to the central travis brick isn't the most solid. That's why I created the body/pod the way I did: at a 45 degree angle to the legs, the open box underneath the body/pod slides over the 4x clip plates fairly snugly and really helps stabilize the whole leg assembly. If you use the legs as-is, you'd need to dupe the box to cover the central area and build out from there which shouldn't be hard as the central box can be made from as little as 4 brackets and have studs-out in 5 directions.

I actually did recreate your quad design in its entirety, box pod and all, except it's mostly blue with some black. It was hard NOT to recreate it after seeing all the common pieces used in its creation. Right now it's sitting on my headboard along with some of the other frames I've built. I was not trying to insinuate that the build was faulty, I was mearly stating that I liked the leg design, and wanted to use it for a different build, however, for the legs to work, I needed a slightly more sturdy connection. I apologize if what I said earlier insulted or offended you in any way.

On another subject, I recently posted my Red Caps on my flickr page, and to my amazement, it had receieved 4 faves! 4!!! I know this doesn't mean anything to those who post pics and get 10+ faves, but for me, this is incredible. Almost all of my pics (At least the ones worth it anyway) only get 1 or 2 faves and even a few 3's, but NOTHING higher than that until very recently. Needless to say because of this, I am estatic!!! :P  8-) and it persuaded me to make a few more Red Caps.

ImageTwo More Red Caps
Red Cap Center: d6B d6B Armored Arm Plates, d6Y Tracking Antenna, d8Rr Hip-mounted Gray Cone SSR d8G No Ranged Weaponry
Red Cap Rear: d6Ra d6Ra d8Ra Dual Missile Pods, d6B d6B Dual Leg Guards.

But... I probably shouldn't have, because when this pic was taken, Member 2 of my Jades Quadmons attacked out of jealousy. Luckily I equipped these two new Red Caps with some extra armor. I had to jump in and separate them and put them all in time out for the time being and later they will receive a firm talking to about being nice to each other.

How many faves you get is basically a function of how many groups you post to. I'm generally in the low-faves camp with you, but I can't be bothered to join every Lego and Mecha group that exists. Don't let it bother you. (Or post to more groups if you can't help it.)

Cool. I was just trying to be clear that the pod was a structural element of the central leg connection and without the pod the legs wouldn't be very stable. Not just for you but for anyone else that tried to build off the leg base if it wasn't clear from the pics. Another thing is that I'm using fresh bricks with more clutch, older bricks may be loose. I wonder if old bricks would be too loose in my design as-is...

What? No. No insult taken, no apology needed. Builds are ALWAYS a collaboration, a dialog. Again, I was just clarifying the details of the build. And I'm GLAD you like it. As you'd probably agree, the best compliment a builder can receive is for someone else to like their work enough to copy it or continue to develop it.

So it's been awhile since I bumped this post, so I figured it was due time for something new.

A long while back, I looked at my collection and noticed I had too many robo arms and not enough ideas to use them, that result ended with the construction of the Mosqui-Ticks. Recently I noticed an increase in my Mini-fig jump packs collection (From Star Wars). They had a unique connection to them that I stated to (once again) experiment using them as the focal point of several builds. Most ended up being scrapped because they just looked too darn silly, but my most recent attempt produced something I feel is worth sharing,

I give you: JaxPax!!

ImageJaxPax
LEFT: d6Ra d6Ra d8Ra Dual Missile Pods, d6Y Sensor Dish
RIGHT: d6Rd d6Rd Twin Blaster, d6G Rear Thrusters

It took a bit of work, but I am happy how well these turned out, plus the pegs on the packs provide interesting connection options. I'll have to work with them some more later. And one of the better things about this build, is that the core unit is slightly smaller than the standard Chub, so there should be no sizing issues.

Hope you enjoyed and as always, I eagerly await any and all thoughts, comments, questions you wish to share.

Thank you VitorFaria, but the Jump packs aren't just the legs of the JaxPax, but also the front and back as well, here's a partial breakdown of what I mean. Just FYI, with the interior shell support removed, this becomes extremely frail and WILL fall apart very easily.

Earlier this week, VitorFaria mentioned a mobile mech game called 'Walking War Robots' (Which has been changed to War Robots). What got my attention is the fact that he also said that it could have been named "Twanks: The Game". That piqued my interest.

So I looked it up, downloaded it, played it and eventually got hooked. (Thank you VitorFaria ;) ) But as I was playing, I noticed a lot of good looking frame designs, and I decided to try and build one, so for today, I present: The Schutze-TypeR!

ImageSchutze-TypeR
BLUE: d6Ra d6Ra Artillery Cannon, d6B d6B Dual Leg Armor
BLACK: d6B d6B Dual Leg Armor, d6Y Sensor Array, d6G Jump Pods, d8G No Ranged Weaponry

I liked the Schutze in the game, but it's main drawback was it's single weapon loadout, so my versions have a bit more customizations allowed. The legs were actually the hardest to get right, but I think I did a fairly decent job recreating the look. The Blue one is more accurate to the game design of the Schutze, and the Black was more of an experiment to test various system hardpoints. In my opinion, not a bad attempt.

Hope you enjoyed.
As Always, I eagerly await your comments, questions, threats, ect.

Nice! I played that game in an earlier version which you could ride only about 6 mechs and the Schutze was one of them, and that thing was everywhere!

It's really great to see that little twaknoid finally in brick form. You got it's proportions pretty much spot on!

These were a build I had back before Halloween, and I had intended to post them in time for the scariest night of the year, but for some odd reason, they sat back with the rest of my builds and somehow got forgotten. Well, these lost souls are lost NO MORE!!!

D34TH Grim

ImageD34TH Grim
WHITE: d6Rh d6Rh Grim Battlemace, d6Ra d6Ra Death-From-Above Mortar Cannon, d6Y Deathwail Emitter
BLUE: d6Rd d6Rd Ghastly Repeater, d6B Coffer Shield, d6Y Spectral Eye, d6G Phantasm Propulsion

ImageD34TH Grim Rear

I originally was trying to make some heavily armored Chubs, using some inspiration I saw from another players build (though I can not recall whom atm). However, the standard Chub head looked rather odd on the body. After several alterations, I stumbled across this head design, which, in my opinion, kinda looks skull like. Perhaps it might pass off as an alternate Atlas head? lol

Hope you enjoyed and I again, eagerly await any and all comments. As per usual...

Those are some very well proportioned humanoid frames, Artasid. That's a difficult feat, well done!

FLUFF

ImageArtic Shell Testing Frame open Cockpit

"Are you sure this thing has been properly calerberated, Sir?"

Private First Class Nu Gai asked the veterain pilot who was already waiting for the training to commence.

"Don't worry bout it, Rookie! This is just a basic Un-armored testing frame!"

Veteran Olde Tymer's voice boomed from the external speakers of his Chub

"Just sit your butt down and secure the hatch!"

With nervous fingers, and sweat already running down his neck, Nu pressed a few buttons and with a sudden jolt, the side hatches closed around him, cacooning him in a shell of metal, wires and screens. A moment later, the top hatch slammed down and locked itself above him with a boom that rang in his ears. The sudden sound, mixed with his already frayed nerves, Nu nearly jumped from his command couch.

"Comfy in there Noob?"

Tymer asked over the comm link this time. Nu took a few deep breaths to calm himself, and with as much confidence he could muster he replied.

"Yes Sir."

ImageArtic Shell Testing Frame

"You won't be for long!"

Tymer nearly screamed back

"If I do my job correctly, you'll need to change your pants at the mere THOUGHT of reentering a Frame again once we're finished here!"

Nu swallowed hard and started to have regrets enlisting into the SU

END FLUFF

I thought it'd be nice to make another frame with an opening cockpit. Nothing to effect gameplay, just a fun decorative piece. Hope you enjoyed.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND/OR HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Some of you may remember that last year, I had posted a few Christmas themed frames:

Well this year, unfortunaly I do not have a Christmas Theme frame to post, but I do have a frame to share nonetheless. This was has a definite inspired look to it, if you can guess lol

B.T. d6Rd d6Rd d8Rd Center Cannon, Turret Machine Gun, d6B Armored Top Hatch, d6Y Radio Antenna

Thank you again Atavism for your Twank design. They are very fun to work with. I've even added some nifty features with this one

Hope you all enjoyed and I eagerly await any and all comments, qestions and thoughts you wish to share.

The little mechanical features you added to your twankenoid are fun, but the maintenance lift is the highlight of this one. That'd make for some great scenery in some industrial terrain.

Really nice!

Despite having the same body plan, I would say this is more of a new frame than a Twank. (We don't call every chicken-walker a High-Leg, do we?)

The opening armor for maintenance is a neat feature, I love how you incorporate that on many of your frames, that certainly adds a level of depth to the builds.

Thanks Atavism. It's kinda funny how the simple things can be the most interesting. I currently have that lift set aside in my 'Honorable' builds collections lol. Strange, but appropriate to be honest.

Yeah, recently adding little features like an opening panel seem to get the build a bit more character in my opinion, which is always a plus. As for calling it a Twank, I'll be honest, I did not have an appropriate name to call it. Since it was inspired by the Twank, I figured I'd just stick to that. Recognition where it's due.

Very recently, Atavism held a 'Non combat Frame' compition (Which I'm sure many of you are aware of.) My first submission to this contest was my T.U.R.T.L.E. frame

ImageT.U.R.T.L.E.

Sadly it did not win. (Congradulations by the way to the winners!) But not winning did not discourage me. In fact, just before Atavism released the winning names, he actually went ahead and turned several submissions into weaponized versions, including my T.U.R.T.L.E.
Link viewtopic.php?f=12&t=7370

But he made a comment about my T.U.R.T.L.E. that had me thinking,

Atavism wrote:Image

I really liked Artasid's turtle. The big broad cargo area on top could have lent itself to a lot of applications (mobile frame drone airport?),

So I decided to do just that. So for today, I give you my T.U.R.T.L.E. reimagined by Atavism's suggestion: The W.A.R.T.U.R.T.L.E.
Weaponized Armored Refitted Trusty Utility Relocating Transportation Land Escort

ImageW.A.R.T.U.R.T.L.E.

ImageDeploy Attack Drones
ImagePlated and Spot Drone Deployed
ImageDeploy All Drones!

If you look carefully, you can see each drone has a different color peg at it's base (The 2 attack drones both have red) This is to remember which die each drone represents. This is to help with any confusion that may occure during play, although I'm sure the drones vary enough to be able to tell from a glance. ROLF, could you imagine a full 5 frame company of these drone carriers? That'd be a mess lol

Hope you enjoyed and as always, I eagerly await any and all thoughts, comments, insults, questions, death threats ect you wish to share.

That's a very cool frame, love the little drones. If you've got a mess on your hands, or the people you play against don't appreciate having a bunch of detached systems, you could always give in a little traffic control tower for spot and then leave the drones on the deck. Personally I'd see it as an artillery system rather than direct fire, but then again you could strap chainsaws to the things for all the sense it has to make.

Edit: You could also make bases of drones instead of frames, like IO companies, and have a turtle-pad be the centerpiece.

Just for fun, heres some more random frames just to share

ImageRoyal Scarab
Scarab: d6Ra d6Ra Artillery Turret, d6B d6B Side Plate armor

I had a bunch of orange and purple pieces and thought, 'What the heck? Mash them together and see what we get" Thus I got this Ijad Scarab frame. Interesting color combination to say the least

ImagePoyds
BROWN: d6Rd d6Rd d8Rd Dual Cannons,
WHITE: d6Ra d6Ra d8Ra Dual Missile Pods, d6Y Antenna, d6G Leg Boosters

There are plenty of battlepod designs out there, and these simple ones were more of an attempt to give the design a classy, but elegant feel to them. But they also inspired me to make....

ImagePoyd, meet Pody-zilla

A slightly larger version. Although this larger one does push the limit for size in standard games, I like it. It even continues my fondness for decorative features like....
ImageOpen Cockpit

An opening cockpit hatch to show the pilot and controls inside.

Hope you enjoyed and I am always eagerly awaiting any and all thoughts comments, questions ect. that you wish to share.

These newest submissions aren't exactly frames, but I am uncertain where to post these, so please feel free to move it if need be.

Very recently, I made my drone carrier, the W.A.R.T.U.R.T.L.E. which was a remake of a noncombat frame I did. I will admit upfront that using Drones as systems still kind of confuses me, but I was actually surprised how well my W.A.R.T.U.R.T.L.E. was received when I showed it off so some other MFZ players in my area. One even remarked that with a bit of rearranging, I could use it as a carrier in IO, and use the drones as the frame squadrons, just as VitorFaria said earlier, but I digress..

I became interested in making more drones, however, I could not replicate the ones I had used for the W.A.R.T.U.R.T.L.E. due to lack of parts (I run out of lampholders REALLY fast lol), So I decided to go for a more common parts friendly design. After several attempts, I made a few that seemed like they could work

ImageRandom Drones

Now, these are in no way perfect, but it's a decent starting point. With such common pieces, I continued to create more, and I was fortunate enough to have enough colors to make 2 separate squads

ImageSend in the Drones

Again, I am not sure if I will actually use these in game. If nothing else, I suppose I could use them for a Trundleball game, if any should come up. lol

Hope you enjoyed and I am always eager to hear your thoughts, questions, insults, comments or just plain chit-chat.
