Holy crap its been forever since I posted here! Playing all this Gundam Crossrays has my creative juices flowing again though, and I'm slowly unpacking and reassembling my squads. Hopefully I'll start posting more Chubdam goodness in the near future.

---

Chubdam Noblesse, based on the Tallgeese from Gundam Wing, finally gets it's wings just in time for the holidays (still counts!). Capturing the Tallgeese structure has been one of the trickier builds, and I've probably been through 4 or 5 complete rehauls before achieving something I thought worthy. So its with great pleasure that I say I think I nailed the wings in one go, just took a few hours to work out the articulation. It was worth it though, the wings can serve as side shields and as forward facing heat shields for atmospheric re-entry. Bonus for using the hot air balloon side for the wings, the clips on the end can serve as additional hardpoints, probable SSRs during play.

If I haven't stated it before, credit for the new arm design goes to Jamie McKelvie.

I was asked how much of this particular build is original Chub and how much is new. It came out to exactly 30 bricks of Chub to 90 bricks of Chubdam action, for 1/4 OG by brick count. So much of the inner Chub frame remains!

Only makes sense if I made the wings for the Noblesse to add them to the Buster Roc as well. Finally made holding a weapon in both hands work at this scale, big thanks to Jamie McKelvie for the arm design to make it happen. Just had to slightly cheat with the combined buster rifle by turning the handles sideways, but the whole deal works otherwise without adding or subtracting anything!

This guy looks fantastic. I haven't watched Gundam so I always feel unable to comment in this thread, but you really nail it every time. The wings are rad and the way you got the guns to combine just by turning the handles is really clever. Great stuff.

Chubdam Icarus (formerly Von Braun), based on the Gundam GP-01 Zephyranthes, receives its big update alongside its big bro Apollo. At first I worried that it wouldn't be much of an update, but as you can see I overhauled quite a bit from the back mounted booster pods to the extra fuel tanks over the knees. I had never really been satisfied with the shoulder verniers either, and after some trial and error found a form that I thought flowed well. All in all I think its a massive improvement to the overall silhouette when compared to the source material just as the Apollo update was.

I did try to pull off something nifty for the chest, a redesign that could potential improve all Chubdam chests across the board, but I couldn't get it to come out quite right. Ah well, I'll tackle it another time. Interestingly enough, I think the new chest design might work smashingly for a Gundam F-91 frame which has eluded me for a few years. Time will tell....

That aside, this should be the last Chubdam update for the year. In the beginning of 2020 I expect to update the GP-03 Stamen inspired Vikare, and mayhaps finally tackle a GP-04 Gerbera inspired Chubdam as well. Who knows, could get crazy and try to pull off the Gerbera Tetra as well!

Happy New Years all!!

Very nice work. And thank you for the details about the frame design, it really help to impress on me even more the great creative ability you have. I am a fan of the shoulders. Looking forward to what creations you bring to the 2020 year. :)

Thank you very much, but now I feel the pressure for 2020! I've really been digging the smaller scale frames trend you've been on, looking forward to your 2020 creations as well.
---
Inspired by Presha I wanted to try a GN bazooka design as well. Instead of using Jamie McKelvie arm design to be able to hold the weapon with both hands a la the Wing Zero Custom inspired Chubdam, I wanted to try to pull it off with standard Chub arms for Presha since he mostly uses those. It took a lot of finagling in Studio to get both arms to line up perfectly to pull this off, but it the result was worth it. Its a wiiide weld, but I think it works in at least this case. I would be interested to see what others could come up with, both different styles of handles and different weapon designs for these handles as well.

I guess I went on a binge of inspiration there for a minute. Added Pisces, Taurus, and Aries to the OZ forces inspired lineup, and updated the Leo and Space Leo to bring them more in line with the current version of the Tallgeese.
Cancer, Pisces, and Aries all have 'perfect' transformation, while the Taurus requires some rearranging of parts to pull it off.

I suppose Tragos, Mercurius, and Vayeate are all I have left if I wanted to fully round out the OZ forces.

I think that being able to make transformation mechs our of legos is an amazing technique. And these are definitely some nice additions. The Cancer one is great, and I'm drawn to the Taurus one too, but the all are pretty sweet.

Okay a biggie update. Completed the total line of OZ forces from the main canon, adding Mercurius, Vayeate, Tragos, and Virgo. Tragos's hover platform should probably be slightly taller, but other than that I'm very content with the overall result. There was a lot of fun challenges in this series, but I'm especially happy with the way the Virgo turned out.

Rick Dias, from Zeta Gundam. I feel like this model should have gotten more love in the show. Its basically a smash up of a Gundam and a Rick Dom, it even has Gundarium Y armor that was lighter than the OG Gundam's armor. The beam pistols could be fired from the storage rack giving it a rare rear arc most mobile suits lacked. And it was a mass production model!

Super Gundam (Gundam MKII + G-Defenser) from Zeta Gundam.

Thinking about how the Rick Dias was basically a Gundam w/ Rick Dom parts made me want to do a custom MKII w/ Rick Dias parts added, but then realized that's the same role G-Defenser was intended to fill. Decided to remake the unit from scratch w/o referencing my bricked version. The MKII itself received minor updates like the ejectable head vulcan pod and updated beam rifle/saber racks. G-Defenser came out a bit SD, but it fits so I'll take it.

Core Gundam (or as I like to call it Babylegs), from Gundam Build Divers: ReRise. ReRise is a wonderful step up from the trash that was Divers, and I highly recommend it. Core Gundam is designed to combine with a number of armor sets that can also function as support units. Each armor is suited for a particular mission set or environment, and named after a planet.

Earthree, formed from Core Gundam combined with the Earth armor. I guess I'm gonna have to do each armor set....

Zaku I Sniper, from Gundam Unicorn. Tried my hand at shaping the legs for taking a knee instead of cramming in more articulation. Really love the knee mounted brace for better stability and according for the limitations of a mech kneeing. Might use it in other sniping frames moving forward.

This particular Zaku has a popular fan mod adding a flight system, and it was one of the recommendations for this month's MMMIG on the hangar, so OF COURSE I had to try my hand at it.

Flying Armor from Zeta Gundam. Bit longer overall than what I originally wanted, but to get the right kinda shaping necessitated it. Probably the most elaborate Movement System I've designed for a frame yet, and a bit big for the tabletop. Pretty happy both hands can grip the holds together. The Gundam MKII is now complete between the base frame, Flying Armor, and G-Defenser.

The muse of quarantine continues to sing.

Zeong from Mobile Suit Gundam. Because legs are overrated. There should be enough space to conceal the strings in the boxed hands when the hands are attached to the arms.
