Single Set Challenge: 41548, 41549, 41550

My Single Set Challenge builds from the Glorp Corp 2, the second tribe from Series6 Mixels.

41549 d6W d6W d6Ra d6Ra d8Ra d6Y d6B
41550 d6W d6W d6Ra d6Ra d6Y

Thoughts:
- These are some good all around ~50pc sets: a good mix of parts: clips/handles, mixels balljoints, basic small parts, slopes, etc.
- 41548: A really good set; so many good MFZ parts. Love the frame I was able to make, but ran out of parts for systems. I liked the frame so much I just left it; systems can be made from other parts.
- 41549: Another good parts list, but the odd number of Mixel joints make a SSC harder than it should've been. This build went in a very Hi-Leg direction and I didn't fight it. The big feet look funny, but I like em. Like there were designed for a place with soft terrain like snow or sand; maybe it's aquatic... The armor panels attached to the legs are a bit of an after thought, but they're functional. The arms are little loader arms ala the fabled Hi-Leg arms and are easily replaced for added hardpoints.
- 41550: For a SSC this set sucks. However, it has a pretty good parts list (partly as it includes the Nixel) with lots of MFZ-useful parts. The SSC frame is crap, but I like the railgun.

C&C solicited as always!

41550 seemed like a better set to try and make a IO ship from or at least parts for one. i thought about snagging one just to build another Mekong class ship.

Damn, might need to pick up that last set just for the transgreen blade, might be just what I'm looking for to upgrade my Chubdam Braver.

I'm constantly impressed with how easily these SSCs translate into frames. The Hi-Leg with the clown feet in particular came out quite nicely.
Water is patient.
Water just waits.
Wears down the cliff tops, the mountains.
The whole of the world.
Water always wins.

Another winner. 41548 is my favorite at first glace, it seems to offer the most to a builder looking to transition from SSC to free build.

I'm consistently impressed by the interesting and feasible designs that come out of either single MIxel sets or entire Mixel tribes. It's almost to the point where I'd just tell a new builder to pick up a single tribe to get a good color scheme going and supplement with a small creator set to either pad the joint total or add more SNOT functionality.
For example:
Weldos + Fast Car or Ocean Explorer
Glorp Corp + Rainforest Animals or Park Animals
This would give you a ton a versatility and buildablity for under $40 USD. There's a good chance that you could get an entire skirmish setup or a full, large company and stations out of two sets for very little investment.

41548 looks like a cousin to the 4157 build from your other post. I think when you've got a frame that solid from an SSC it's right not to compromise for the sake of systems.

41549's floppy feet are silly but not unreasonably so. Angling the body gives it an appealing look and manipulator arms give it character. Despite 41548's strong lines, I think 41549's my favourite of these three.

41550 reminds me of the Gronk droid from star wars. With a railgun. And it's abundantly clear what its systems are - it looks like that railgun can also be elevated?

41548 is very sweet.
41550 : Have you tried building a body that's narrower (but longer) to match the railgun ?

@Jay : I feel the same way. Using a Mixel tribe allows you to have matching colors, but too few identical pieces. The frames will not look similar enough if you want a company using a common" base frame". IMO, the best would be to buy multiples of the same Mixel, and (like you said) to add a small creator set. I experimented both the mixel+creator and the "single tribe challenge" : I'll upload the pictures sometime next week. Looking at all the great SSC, Mixels and some other polybags are the answer to "what set to buy to get started ?"

Minor issue with Rainforest : i bought it with MF0 in mind, but now that animals are just being displayed because they're pretty cool...
