HL-16 "Bismarck" - Labor Frame

HL-16 "Bismarck" - Labor Frame
Image

The HL-16 is a heavy lifting/repair frame that was developed for a variety of tasks, ranging from mining and lifting to repairing and building. The Bismarck is not suited for direct combat, as the pilot is not in a closed, armored cockpit as many current "war-ready labor frames" are, and instead is used mainly for for maintenance of other frames and/or structures.

The cockpit is easily accessible, as the outer grating lowers and becomes a ladder to the controls and shown below:

No known combat-modified Bismarck frames exist, likely due to their extreme value as high quality labor frames.

Love the use of those atlantis air-tank helmets, and the tires :)

Bulky never looked so sexy. I love the amount of greebly goodness you managed to put on such a small 'Frame. How does it look in size-comparision to a Chub?

Nice use of the drills too! I love this frame.

I actually had to build a Chub to find this out (mine were all disassembled into other things). The Bismarck stands only about 2 plates taller than a Chub. It's just real meaty, so it probably looks like it'd dwarf a Chub.

I didn't think anyone would be able to notice the drills from just the square bit! Good eye, and thanks.

Seriously. replace those hands with some big ol' pincers and we'd have ourselves one half of an alien showdown.

Heh, maybe! Thanks for all the feedback. Out of everything I've posted, this particular frame has had more hits on the flickr page than any other frame, by a heaping huge margin of like...1,000, and I'm not even sure why.

I just saw this frame linked over in another thread. Looked at it and said "UHhhhh... why is this not in my list of awesome frames I need to build?"

Well; now it is! I've been looking out for more "repurposed labor frame" type builds and this fits the bill perfectly! Need a couple of these for the Free Colony Rebel Scum =^.^=

I know it's not the traditional battlemech, but this is one of my favorites after trolling through the board this afternoon.

Funny that this guy gets a small comeback in July when he has the frame chef piece of this month. Glad people still like it, even though I still don't know how it got 1500 views. I think it was linked offsite somewhere or something...

Was it online during the "Penny Arcade Effect"?
