XT-11a King Cobra Prototype

Built for the July Frame Chef challenge. I'm going to try and incorporate this build into a heavy gunner to go along with my Fat Snakes.

Comments and Criticism welcome!

There's certainly the core of something very worthwhile there. The notion of a fixed (i.e.: non-rotating), heavily armoured sensor head like the one you have here is nice. Only a personal preference, but I'd keep that as you modify the frame. Good work, as always.

Cheers,
Malcolm

I'm liking the use of the double-double offsets to make up the center, and agree with Malcolm about the stationary head. Just be sure to have epic huge shoulders. I see an exaggerated silhouette for the top half looking really good.

Beautiful work as usual :D

Agree with the above posts about the shoulders, torso, and head.

Lovely work as always. Good usage of the Frame Chef parts in there. Interested to see how it looks 'finished' :)

Absolutely. I've been wanting to build something with a armored "collar" of sorts for quite some time. I've got a couple of ways to pull it off but this worked out pretty well.

I'm not sure how huge I'm going to go with them, but they won't be small :).

Still not finished and I'm going to make a large, two-handed weapons for him, but I thought this was pretty friggin rad.

Hmm, instead of the Super Chub shoulders, I think it'd be cool to try to evoke the sort of exaggerated shape, or something similar used on the Virgo II from Gundam Wing:

3x3 Dishes, perhaps? Multiple 2x2 dishes? I think I might actually tinker with this frame a bit. Could I get a breakdown on the torso area?

I also see you lost the two Travis on the upper leg! (I did this on my Pulsar as well, would rather save the travis for something else than get one more thing on the front).

I'm actually going to be picking up a bionicle set to get some rounded shoulders for this guy. I'm hoping itll look badass.

Which set, if you don't mind me asking? I'm thinking the use of Bionicle pieces for the shoulders will work very well. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Shoulders, head, and some torso reworking. I think things are shaping up rather nicely.

Hmm. Can we get a straight on front view of the shoulders just arms down in a non-action position? I want to see what the shape is when the arms are at ease.

Head is definitely cool, modified fat snake helm can't be bad.

Wow clips to T-Pieces. That is a mighty clever connection! I like that shot a lot better...hah!

From here: I would maybe alter the jumper on top, though. Maybe make it black? Also what would it look like with the cheese wedge changed out for another jumper on the front of the shoulder (assuming a 1x2 will fit there with the bionicle piece)?

I'd brick this out myself if I had those bionicle pieces to tinker with it alone...

Are the clips on the guns modulex? The head is much better now that its a little more armored. The shoulders are my main point of concern right now, though everyone else is seeming to like the bulk, so I'll keep my mouth shut.

Certainly shaping up nicely, I'll still be watching to see where it goes.

Unless I'm mistaken, they are white 1x2 jumpers with a 1x2 plate underneath? They're just ridiculously clean looking.

You are correct sir.

I'm still not 100% happy with those shoulders. They just aren't cohesive enough. I'll just be over here tinkering.

I'm screwing with it in LDD as well! It's actually surprisingly LDD-friendly. I'll put up what I mess with. For some reason I really want to see this thing properly shouldered!
